Advertisement listing terms
Last updated September 23, 2026
These terms apply when you choose Advertise only on a listing. They add to the terms of service and the seller agreement, and where they differ, these take priority for those listings.
What this is
An advertisement listing is one findTreas advertises but does not sell. We show the item, and when a verified buyer asks and you agree, we introduce the two of you. That is the whole service.
There is no checkout on these listings, no cart and no order. No sale of them happens through findTreas.
findTreas is not part of the sale
In plain terms, because everything else follows from this:
- We do not process the payment. Whatever the buyer pays, they pay you, by whatever means the two of you agree. None of it passes through us.
- We do not hold, inspect or ship the goods.
- We are not told the price you agree on, or whether anything was agreed at all. We do not ask, and nothing here records it.
- We do not collect or remit sales tax on these sales. You are the retailer, and the tax is your responsibility, to charge if it is due and to file. If you are not sure whether it is due, ask your accountant rather than us.
- You cannot get a refund through findTreas. There is no order to refund, and no money passed through us. If the buyer wants their money back, that is between the two of you.
- There is no dispute process for these. The dispute and refund process in the terms of service applies to sales paid for through findTreas, and these are not.
What the fee buys, and when it is owed
$0.25 per listing per month, owed because the advertisement ran, not because anything sold.
Make sure you understand this before you use these listings. The fee pays for advertising and an introduction. It is not a commission and does not depend on a sale. So:
- A listing that never sells is still charged. If you list something in March and it is still there in June having sold nothing, you owe four months of fees. You paid for the advertising, and you got it.
- A listing that sells for a lot is charged the same. We take no share of what you get.
- It is not prorated. A listing live for any part of a month is charged for that month. We deliberately do not record when a listing stopped being live, because for one taken down after selling that timestamp would be a record of a sale.
- Fees are added to your balance and are not charged automatically. No payment method is stored for them. You pay the balance yourself from your billing page.
When you take a listing down, it stops being charged from the following month. You are the only person who can do that. We do not mark these sold, because we are not told when they sell.
Introductions
Both you and the buyer must have completed an identity check before an introduction can happen. A buyer asks. You see their username, their rating and that they are verified, and you decide. Neither of you is told anything about the other until you agree, and when you do, you each receive the other’s name and email address at the same time.
We charge nothing for an introduction, however many you make. Charging per introduction would be charging for the transaction, which is exactly what we are not doing.
What you and the buyer then say to each other is between you. It does not go through findTreas, and we do not see it.
What you are responsible for
Everything about the sale: describing the item honestly, agreeing on the price, taking the money safely, handing the goods over, and any tax, refund or guarantee that follows.
The prohibited items policy applies to these listings exactly as it does to everything else. Advertising something is not a way around it.
You are meeting a stranger. The identity check means somebody identifiable is responsible for the account. It is not a character reference. Meet in public where you can.
